Due to COVID-19, the JCC is not conducting summer swim team. Please email wendy@jccavldev.wpengine.com for more information.
The JCC year-round swim team now has two leagues: the Gefilte Fish league for ages 10 and under, and the Smokin’ Salmon league for ages 10 – 18!
The JCC’s year-round swim team emphasizes great coaching, team building, and fun while focusing on stroke drills, endurance swimming, diving, turns, and swimming language. The Gefilte Fish and Smokin’ Salmon swim teams’ age specifications are a guideline for placing swimmers. It is up to the coaches’ discretion whether a swimmer 10 and younger can be promoted to the senior level. Typically, juniors will work on stroke development and seniors will work on refining strokes and endurance. Each swimmer will be addressed on a case-by-case basis that will involve a conversation between coaches, parents, and swimmers. Swimmers on both the junior and senior teams must be proficient in freestyle and backstroke and must be able to swim 25 yards to participate in either league. Private swim lessons may be recommended to prepare your child for swim team.
Year-round swim team sessions run seasonally, with separate winter, spring, and summer registration required for each session. To be considered for swim team, your child should be evaluated for swim competency and skill level. We offer developmental swim lessons for swimmers who are not ready to join a team. Please email swimcoach@jccavldev.wpengine.com to schedule a swim evaluation.
