Wait List Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How long is the wait list?
A: The wait list varies depending on the age of your child and current enrollment trends and demand. In general, the wait list can be longer for younger groups (infants and toddlers) than for 3-5 year olds, simply because we have the ability to serve older children in a higher capacity. Due to the current high demand for enrollment at our school, applying for the wait list does not guarantee placement.
Q: How much does it cost to get on the wait list?
A: There is a $20 fee (per child) to get on the wait list. Payments can be made at the Front Desk of the JCC Main Building or by calling Aislinn McShane and giving credit card info over the phone. Wait list applications that are submitted without payment will be held until payment is received and are not considered complete. Wait list fees are non-refundable.
Q: Can I apply for the wait list without scheduling a tour?
A: Scheduling a tour is recommended, but not required. Due to COVID modifications, we are not accepting in-person tours at this time.
Q: If I don’t get in this year, do I need to re-apply as my child gets older for a new classroom?
A: No. We will track your child according to her/his date of birth, so they will always be placed in the age-appropriate cohort. There is no need to re-apply.
Q: How can I check my status on the waiting list?
A: You will be contacted via e-mail with updates to your wait list status and any enrollment offers. Please make sure your e-mail address on your wait list application is correct. Feel free to check in or update your information at any time by e-mailing Aislinn McShane or calling 828-253-0701 x140.
Q: Why did my number on the wait list change?
A: It is possible that your child may move up or down on the wait list for the following reasons:
- Your child has aged up into a different waiting list for an older classroom
- Other children on the list have aged up to a different waiting list for an older classroom
- We have offered spots to families and they have accepted, declined, or deferred placement until a later date or age group
- The age of the child has changed (in fostering situations)
- Siblings of currently enrolled families receive priority should spots become available, but are not guaranteed placement
- Jewish families receive priority placement on the waiting list, but are not guaranteed placement
- JCC employees receive priority placement on the waiting list, but are not guaranteed placement
