Job Summary: The Associate Director of Childcare Compliance, under the supervision of the Early Childhood Director, is responsible for adherence to NC Childcare Licensing, Buncombe County sanitation regulations, Star Ratings, and JCC policies and for the JCC’s childcare programs: Shalom Children’s Center, Hilde’s House, JCC Kids After-School, and Camp Ruach. The Assoc. Dir. Of Childcare Compliance supports the mission of the JCC by developing programs that celebrate Jewish culture, strengthen Jewish identity, and build inclusive community.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop the Learning Management System to upload and track all staff training and certification requirements
- Develop and implement a system to track program and child outcomes
- Design and perform new staff onboarding/training and in-service training as it relates to JCC policy, licensing, sanitation, and ITERS/ECERS/SACERS star ratings
- Audit adherence to JCC policy, licensing, sanitation, and ITERS/ECERS/SACERS star ratings
- Monitor the development and posting of weekly/monthly lesson plans
- Perform indoor and outdoor health and safety checks
- Create and distribute allergy/medical action plans
- Coordinate monthly emergency drill schedules with the Facility and Security Director
- Coordinate creation and audit of complete employment records and child files, including sending notices to staff when requirements are lapsing
- File incident reports
- Walk with the licenser when they are on-site
- Communicate with families to enforce sick child exclusions
Administration
- Report program statistics and outcomes to Executive Director and Board of Directors as needed
- Develop and maintain procedures, systems, registration forms, and other relevant records related to department
- Perform record keeping and reporting related to NC Childcare Licensing and Subsidized Childcare Vouchers
Agency Responsibilities
- Maintain and enforce agency policies and procedures
- Serve on agency committees as appropriate
- Attend and support agency-wide events as requested
Community Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a collaborative relationship with representatives from Buncombe Partnership for Children, NCDHHS DCDEE licensing, and Buncombe County sanitation
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience overseeing licensing and sanitation requirements
- Organizational skills
- Ability to relate positively and constructively to children, parents, and staff
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field
- Edu119 or equivalent
Experience:
- Four years experience in licensed childcare
Certifications:
- NC Qualifying Letter (criminal background check)
- North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential Level I, or ability to obtain it within one year of hire
- Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification (within 90 days of employment)
Substitution:
- Associates degree in education or a related field and 6+ years experience in licensed childcare
OR
- Master’s degree in education or a related field may be accepted as an equivalent to a maximum of two of the required years of experience.
Additional:
- Must pass a drug screening
