The holiday of Purim is a fun-filled festival celebrating the bravery of Esther and Mordechai over the tyrant Haman. At the JCC, we are hosting a Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 1st. In addition, the children will learn about Purim in their classrooms and will have a special Purim celebration including dressing up in costumes on Friday, March 6.
As you may know, it is customary to give mishloach manot, or gifts of food to friends and neighbors on Purim. This year, the JCC is bringing the tradition of mishloach manot to our community. This popular fundraiser lets families exchange gift boxes with friends, classmates, teachers and others. This year we are offering an affordable way to share the joy of the holiday. The cost of the box is just $10! Proceeds go to support our children’s programs. Each box will contain hamentashen, the traditional cookies eaten for Purim, a grogger (noisemaker), a mask and other treats. It is our goal for each child and teacher to receive a box as a gift on Thursday or Friday March 5th and 6th (depending upon your child’s schedule).
You can print this Mishloach Manot 2015 Order Form.
They are due at the front desk by Friday, February 27th!
