Meeting & Meal w/ Yavilah McCoy: Educator, Activist, Spiritual Teacher, and a Jewish Woman of Color
March 26, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
You’re invited to attend Yavilah McCoy’s lecture “Tangled Up in Anti-Semitism” taking place at the Jewish Community Center on Thursday, March 26. We often think of anti-Semitism as a discrete phenomenon that singles out Jews as objects of hatred. But what if other forms of hatred were tangled up in anti-Semitism? What if we as Jews — a diverse group ourselves — came to see how various forms of hatred — racism, misogyny, homophobia, to name a few — draw on similar sources of hatred as that which anti-Semitism draws?
In her lecture, McCoy will talk about what is required of us as a Jewish community to grow the relationships and the understandings that create beloved community spaces: where do we all feel safe and welcome? Join Yavilah McCoy for a discussion about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Jewish community and beyond.
